      FAR NORTH PHOTOGRAPHERS.

The Northwood name has long been synonymous
with photographic images of early Northland. Three
brothers, Arthur, Richard and Charles, raised beside
the Raeo Creek at Pukenui in the Far North, all
established fine reputation as 1st generation NZ
  Photographers. Their photographic expertise which

graced many a publication and household, now provide
a wonderful insight of the Far North through the first
half of the century. Of the three brothers it was
Arthur who may lay claim to being the most prolific
photographer. Always an eye for a good composition
and a disposition for a little adventure, he travelled
to all corners of this remote region recording not only
the industry and events of the time but the scenery
and the people. His studies at times, display great
subtlety, touches of humour hidden away behind a
main subject matter. His prowess and skill with
camera, exposure and darkroom ability were second
to none, his contribution to the history of the
          Far North of inestimable value.
