The Long Beach of Tohe  (90 Mile Beach)
A long sweeping crescent down the West Coast of the
Far North, steeped in legend and history.

It is down this beach that the Chief Tohe travelled to
reach his daughter at Herekino, along the way giving
names to the prominent features and locations.

In 1932 "Wizard Smith" broke the land speed record in
his car "Stewart Enterprise" on these same sands.

1933 and Charles Kingsford Smith flew his monoplane
the "Southern Cross", off the 90 Mile on his epic flight
   to Australia.

    History made and past ........
but Te Oneroa a Tohe remains timeless.
